Juve 'a little selfish', Gladbach 'very satisfied'

We created many chances tonight, but just a few good ones, and we missed them all unfortunately. Sometimes my players were a little selfish, both in the first and in the second half, and sometimes they just made a mistake, it happens.

I am really angry tonight because we have to play better in the last 30 metres – and we made the same mistake against Inter in the league. We have to improve and must do so quickly. When there are better placed team-mates, you have to pass the ball, and my players have forgotten this tonight.

Let's look at the positives. The positives are, we've not conceded a goal for the second game in a row, including in the league, so let's say we're on the right track. Tonight we didn't have many chances, but we got our final ball wrong too often. I'm angry with how we are throwing away these chances.

There were about three occasions – when Álvaro Morata shot when Paul Pogba was better placed, when Paul wasted a chance, or when Paul had Alex Sandro free on his left. Clearly they didn't see their team-mate, but these are things we need to do better. We didn't play well technically and if you make these mistakes, it's hard to win games. We're not getting things wrong in front of goal, we're getting it wrong with the final ball.

Andrea Barzagli played another extraordinary game tonight, as all the defence did. Claudio Marchisio did well too and is improving. We just need to improve the attack, in terms of the final ball. Pogba hit a pretty good free-kick and we need to work on this and improve.

Looking at the [Manchester] City win, a win for us would have taken us very close to qualifying but it wasn't to be. We can't settle for these seven points, we've got to be angry that we didn't win tonight. It's all still wide open as we have to play at Gladbach, host City and go to Sevilla, so there's everything still to play for.

Overall Pogba had a good game, but in certain instances he could have done better. We've got to improve up front, as I've said, and I'm referring to just the details because it's the details which make the difference in football. We had chances to create openings, but we got them wrong, and here we are with a 0-0.

We can be very satisfied with our defence. At the start it took us some time to get into the game. In the second half we did not give away too many chances. But getting forward we lost the ball too often.

Borussia have written history tonight [with the club's first point in the Champions League] and we're incredibly proud of them for getting this point. We needed to play from the back and not lose the ball so much in attack, so we are not happy with our attacking efforts, but when you see where we were four or five weeks ago then we're very happy to get a point away from home.

I see this as a point won – beyond that, I'm not reading anything more into what this means for the group. I can promise you that no matter how the next few games in the Champions League go, it really doesn't matter how many points we get or what position we can end up in – we have to give it all we've got.

If we had no points going into our final group game, we would still have this approach. We're sticking to this philosophy – not thinking about what position we can finish in. Our next Champions League game will be the same – we'll go all out to try to win it, as we always do.
