  • BATE's Aleksandr Yermakovich: Barcelona gave us a "football masterclass"

Aleksandr Yermakovich, BATE coach
We expected more from the first half, but our transition from defence to counterattack was poor. That is the major disappointment from this game. Barça gave us a football masterclass. They showed us how to attack and how to play once you lose the ball. We have to learn more, much more.

Every BATE player feels responsibility when he takes the field, but it was obvious from the very beginning that Barcelona did not underestimate us in any way. They were totally prepared for our counterattacks and knew how to stop us launching them.

Luis Enrique, Barcelona coach
All my players felt confident and deserved this win. It was a good game in terms of our pressing. BATE played very compact and waited for us not far from their box, so it was difficult to supply our forwards with the ball. However, we still achieved our task.

We expected BATE to play with one striker and to launch quick counterattacks, but our defence managed to prevent them executing those. It was good for us that they did not have Vitali Rodionov. He is a really good forward and BATE definitely missed him. We kept a clean sheet and that will give us more confidence.
