Thomas Müller is on a high - and it shows: he cannot shake the smile off his face and beams when reminded of his start to the season.
Before the trip to Greece for Bayern München's encounter against Olympiacos, he had already scored nine goals in six matches for club and country. On Wednesday, he took that tally to 11 in seven, as Bayern began UEFA Champions League Group F with a deserved 3-0 victory in Piraeus.
"Yes, I feel really good and I am on a streak, it's true," Müller told UEFA.com. "My only aim is to keep this momentum going, not to slow down."
The 26-year old forward broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second half, with a long-range shot that lobbed Roberto and landed in the back of the Olympiacos net. "The ball went further than I intended," Müller admitted. "I was aiming for [Robert] Lewandowski who was in the box. Let us say that it was a cross gone astray. I must be honest!"
Manuel Neuer tried to explain the goal from a goalkeeper's point of view: "In such situations, a goalkeeper cannot accurately assess the trajectory of the ball. It was a bad moment for Roberto."
As for David Alaba, he underlined the importance of that goal: "It unlocked the match for us."
Physics aside, Bayern got the victory they were after with Müller's two goals either side of substitute Mario Götze's effort. The 3-0 scoreline might suggest it was easy. "Far from it," says Müller.
"The atmosphere was unbelievable and it wasn't easy. Olympiacos had won their last six home games in the Champions League against opposition such as Juventus and Manchester United. We were perfectly aware of what to expect here and we are very glad to have won 3-0. It was a tough match but we were the better team and won deservedly, through hard work."
As they did against Augsburg on Saturday in the Bundesliga, Bayern scored in the second half to decide the match. Is it becoming a pattern?
"A match lasts for 90 minutes," Müller replies. "You can't choose when to score, you can only try. Tonight we believed in ourselves and our potential and tried to create dangerous situations from the start. We were denied in the first half, but sealed our victory in the second half through perseverance."
The player congratulated the team on a job well done, as they kicked off their group stage campaign with three points already in the bag. "It was the perfect result in a difficult fixture. It is not easy for any team to come here and win, and we are really happy to start with a victory in the competition."
