Laurent Blanc, Paris coach
The players started very well and we tried to disrupt Malmö, which we managed to do for the first ten minutes, and that allowed us to open the scoring. We had a lot of determination but also a lot of balance. When I see the results in the Champions League, it only serves as a reminder that it's always hard to win, whether you play home or away. But tonight we managed to score two goals and concede very few opportunities: it's a good start, although of course there are things to improve.
This result is a good omen for the season ahead. We wanted to win and we achieved that, but I must confess I'm a bit disappointed we didn't score a goal or two more, because we could have done. But the result is there for everyone to see.
Åge Hareide, Malmö coach
I believe it was my mistake because I fielded a 3-5-2 – it wasn't meant to give Paris too much of the ball, but that's what happened unfortunately and they scored virtually at the start of the match. It's very difficult to take on a team like Paris, especially when they're at home. Maybe we were too respectful, but I'm disappointed.
When we switched to 4-3-3 it was better, especially in the second half when we played more aggressively. I'm very happy we played Paris now, because 90 minutes against them will be great preparation to face Real Madrid on matchday two. I'm looking forward to this match as we usually perform much better at home.
