A late goal in the first leg has given Malmö real hope as they welcome Celtic for their UEFA Champions League play-off decider.

Previous meetings
A double from Leigh Griffiths plus a Nir Bitton header helped Celtic to a 3-2 first-leg success against Malmö in Glasgow but the tie is anything but over after former Hoops loanee Jo Inge Berget bagged a second-half pair of his own.

Form guide
• Malmö have not conceded in their last nine UEFA qualifying home games (W6 D3) since Rangers earned a 1-1 draw in August 2011. They have not lost in 11 qualifying matches since moving to the Malmö New Stadium (W7 D4). Their previous home defeat came at their former home, a 1-0 defeat by Swiss side Thun in August 2005.

• Celtic's 4-1 success at Stjarnan in this season's second qualifying round is their only victory in their last eight continental away fixtures (W1 D4 L3).

• Celtic remain unbeaten in five games against Swedish teams with the record W4 D1 L0.

• Malmö are unbeaten in two home matches against Scottish sides (W1 D1). They previously hosted Celtic's Glasgow neighbours Rangers, holding them to that 1-1 draw in the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round to claim a 2-1 aggregate triumph.

• Celtic have yet to ship a goal in Sweden, having earned a 2-0 win and a 0-0 draw on their previous two visits. That 2-0 victory was part of a 4-0 aggregate 2012/13 UEFA Champions League play-off success over a Helsingborg outfit coached by Malmö's Åge Hareide – in which current Malmö striker Nikola Djurdjić played both legs.

• Celtic last featured in the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2013/14 but lost to Maribor of Slovenia in last year's play-offs.

• Malmö beat Salzburg in last season's play-offs to earn a first UEFA Champions League group stage campaign. They eliminated Salzburg again in this summer's third qualifying round.

• Swedish teams have had marginally the better of the 30 meetings between the nations' clubs in UEFA competition: W11 D10 L9.

Links and trivia
• Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths turned 25 the day after the first leg.

• Malmö goalkeeper Marko Johansson – who made his European debut as a 16-year-old in the second qualifying round – turns 17 the day of the Celtic decider, 25 August.

• Both sides have Norwegian coaches: Ronny Deila at Celtic and Åge Hareide at Malmö. Deila said in the run-up to the match that he had been in talks about the Malmö job in 2014 when in charge of Strømsgodset, but Hareide was hired and Deila ended up in Glasgow.

• Malmö attacker Berget spent last autumn on loan at Celtic while he was on the books at Cardiff City. He scored twice in four league outings.

• Celtic boast Swedish talent in the form of 44-times international defender Mikael Lustig.

• Malmö's Icelandic defender Kári Árnason played in Scotland with Aberdeen from 2011–12.
