Josep Guardiola, Bayern coach
I want to congratulate my players – I am happy to be the coach of this team. Congratulations also to Barcelona – I hope they will win a fifth European title in Berlin. We had many problems but my players gave everything this season. Thanks to our fans – I know they have given everything. We wanted to get to Berlin, but if we lose like this, I can only compliment my players.

Luis Enrique is doing a really good job. Whether they play Real Madrid or Juventus, it will be a great final. Barça are strong at the back, in good physical condition and quick in attack. Lionel Messi is very, very strong. He is like Pelé. We lost another semi-final – we could have avoided this with a better defensive performance, but today I am satisfied with my team. Barcelona deserve to be in the final.

You can only beat Barça if you take the ball off them. We had a lot of difficulties but we never gave up. A big team has to cope with defeats like today or against Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup. I would like to play even better and have all my best players available, which I do not have. But I am happy and pleased with how we played.

Luis Enrique, Barcelona coach
Of course I suffered a little bit, like in every round. Obviously it was great to have such a cushion from the first leg, though it wasn't easy for us after Bayern took the lead. But we reacted well, scored an equaliser and secured a half-time advantage. The second half was different because they attacked more, but we have got to the final and we can still win every competition we are in. They attacked us and took risks but we know our players' strengths and how we can play. I'm delighted with them and have to congratulate them. This is what it means to be part of Barça.

Our forwards have a lot of qualities. They also have a good understanding between them. It is very difficult for an opponent to control them. We wanted to score early and to create chances from the off, and that gave us confidence. We controlled the game in the first half but then made a lot of mistakes in the second. It's a night when we have to be happy. It will now be different to experience the final as a coach, having had a prolific career as a player.
