Blanc hails defining moment for Paris

They deserved to win. When a team cannot defend two corners and concedes two goals, they do not deserve to win. When a team cannot cope with the pressure of being with one player more and being at home ... For them it was easy: ten men, defensive organisation, counterattack, waiting for the right moment. Waiting for a mistake. For them there was nothing to lose. I've played Champions League matches with that feeling. It's difficult [with ten men] but mentally you don't feel that pressure any more – they deserved this result, this draw.

I want to know [why Chelsea played as they did]. I told the players after the game it was not the moment to speak with them about it. It is the moment for them to go home and tomorrow we will try to analyse that. For me it was a surprise; I'm disappointed but I try always to be pragmatic. When opponents are better than us, the feeling is we deserve to lose.

We didn't deserve to go through, we accept that with a sporting mentality. But we must also react with pride. We have a league to win and I said that to the players. It is not a time to cry. The same players have to go on the pitch on Sunday and if we win the Premier League and the League Cup it is still a fantastic season. So it's no time to cry. We move on and we move forward.

It's not the moment for me to speak about points like [why the players looked tired]. I want to be sure what I am saying ... no accumulation of matches, a normal process of training using the same methodology that has led us to the top of the league since day one; obviously it's not a physical situation.

I always think your nervous system is the most important thing and for me the players felt the responsibility of the game too much, instead of enjoying it and expressing yourself the best way you can. Clearly the players could not do that. When you concede two goals from corners it is evidence of what I am saying – a lack of concentration. It is not a problem of physical condition.

Tired but very happy! It was deserved progress, the qualification for PSG over both legs, if we're honest. We tried to play more football than Chelsea, we created a lot more chances. Going down to ten men wasn't something we planned for, but we were still ambitious in the way we played after half-time.

We did very well defensively, staying in the game as long as possible, and our centre-back pairing were excellent both defensively and in an attacking sense from set pieces. They were fantastic, as were the whole team. It was a brilliant performance from the whole group.

At half-time I was really surprised just how calm my side were, despite it being ten versus 11. We were at a disadvantage, but I felt the players had the same desire to play the same philosophy and put in a performance to get into the quarter-finals. We had to tweak a few things, but regardless I knew the players were ready to give 100%.

We want to be one of Europe's top clubs, we want to sit at the top table. Going forward, this game will be seen as a reference point with regards to the club's recent history. I'm very happy with that.
