Ahead of the second installment of UEFA Champions League round of 16 ties, UEFA.com looks at each side's prospects based on past results. History may suggest the team at home in the second legs hold the advantage, but if we dig deeper into the statistics, what are the teams' chances?
FC Bayern München v FC Shakhtar Donetsk
• Bayern's have drawn away in the first leg in four previous knockout record when drawing 0-0 away in European Cup and won three of the ties on aggregate. The sole exception was against Liverpool FC in the 1980/81 semi-finals, when they drew 1-1 in Munich and lost on away goals.
• Shakhtar have never drawn a home first leg 0-0 in the European Cup.
• In the UEFA Champions League round of 16, there have been seven occasions where the first leg has ended goalless. The team playing away in the first leg won five of those ties (71.4%); the team playing at home in the first game won the other two (28.6%).
• Since 2004/05, in all rounds of the competition's knockout phase, there have been 15 first-leg matches ending 0-0. The away team from the first leg progressed in 11 ties (73.3%); the home team from the first leg progressed in the other four (26.7%).
• In all two-legged ties (including qualifying) in the UEFA Champions League going back to 1992/93, 107 first-leg matches have ended 0-0. The team away first won 74 tie (69.2%); the team who was at home in the first leg won 33 (30.8%).
Chelsea FC v Paris Saint-Germain
• Chelsea have drawn three first-leg matches 1-1 away in the UEFA Champions League, winning all three ties on aggregate.
• Paris, meanwhile, have never drawn a UEFA Champions League first leg 1-1 at home.
• In the UEFA Champions League round of 16 overall, a first-leg tie has finished 1-1 on 16 occasions*. Of those, the team that was away first has progressed 12 times (75%) with the team at home in the first game winning the other four ties (25%).
• In the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds overall, there have been 23* 1-1 draws in the first leg. The away side have won 18 ties (78.3%) with the team at home first winning five (21.7%).
• In all two-legged ties (including qualifying) in the UEFA Champions League since 1992/93, there have been 101 1-1* draws in the first game. The away team in the first game progressed 69 times (68.3%) and the home team won through on 32 occasions (31.7%).
