Instinct kicked in for Dejan Savićević as he scored one of AC Milan's four goals against FC Barcelona in the 1994 UEFA Champions League final – an unforgettable lob. "If I had thought a lot I certainly wouldn't have scored," he recalled.
Beaten by Olympique de Marseille in the previous year's decider, Milan made no mistake in Athens, with Savićević striking their glorious third in a resounding 4-0 win.
"As the ball bounced I noticed that the goalkeeper was too far out, and I decided to shoot," he told UEFA.com. "I wasn't one of those players who usually chipped the goalkeeper – Robert Prosinečki was better at that – but I tried to be accurate and to hit it hard. The moment I hit the ball I saw it was going in. I started celebrating right away."
