Jasmin Handanovič, Maribor goalkeeper
We learned something from London. We took all the good things out of it and the bad things we put aside. Today we showed that we can play football, we can play good football. We deserved a point. Chelsea were better, but we were also close to going 2-0 up. In the end I think 1-1 is a fair result.

[On penalty save] Like I said, we learned something from London where there were two penalties. I just kept my head clear. Penalties are a gamble.

I hope [for another Maribor surprise in the last two matches]. Now we play away to Sporting. It's going to be a very difficult game. But considering what we showed today, we can manage to get a result.

Ante Šimundža, Maribor coach
We have seen a fantastic match, a spectacular evening here in Maribor. Our team were exceptional and we proved again that we deserve to be in the Champions League group stage.

Considering how the match went, the result was fair. It would have been nice if we could have scored one more goal, we had chances, but Chelsea also failed to score, even from the penalty spot, so we have to be satisfied with a draw.

Chelsea scored in London from every chance so we conceded six goals. I knew that couldn't happen again here. Today we have seen the other Chelsea, who were again the better team at some point. But we were great individually and tactically tonight. Agim Ibraimi had problems with illness in the few last days but you have seen that he played a fantastic match – like the whole team.

We are still in the race for progression from the group stage. We have three points now, but two difficult matches in front of us. Everything is possible. The Maribor fans are the best in the world; the public showed again that they can give us extra energy. Thanks to them again.

Nemanja Matić, Chelsea midfielder
We knew it was going to be very difficult here. The coach prepared some videos to show us where they can be dangerous. In the first ten or 15 minutes we controlled the game but then Maribor started to play well and they created some chances.

In the second half they scored a nice goal and with the home supporters they were stronger, but we quickly equalised for 1-1. In the end we missed the penalty and some more chances, although 1-1 is an OK result for us.

Before this game we had two points more than Schalke, now we have three. Sometimes 1-1 is a good result. I'm sure that we will use our quality in the last two games and we will stay in first position.

José Mourinho, Chelsea manager
In the first half we were not good, we played very slowly. It was easy for Maribor to control the game. But in the second half we played very well – we were creative, we were fast, we had many chances. Actually we deserved to win. But it's also fair and normal to congratulate Maribor for all their efforts, for trying to get a point here. And they did that.

It's not easy to play a fantastic match for 90 minutes without making mistakes. And surprises happen in football. After the Maribor goal we reacted great, we pressed really hard.

Maribor had luck, but they fought hard and they had a fantastic goalkeeper. I have seen a fantastic atmosphere tonight with a lot of enthusiasm from the Maribor crowd.
