Leonardo Jardim, Monaco coach
My analysis is that we played well for 30 minutes, then Benfica were better. But during the last 20 minutes we were on top – I thought we could have won. Our goalkeeper was decisive in two or three situations, we have to congratulate him.
At the beginning of the competition we were drawn against three very good teams in the group. We have a young team and these kind of games help us improve. It's a pity we could not score from our opportunities at the end – I think we should have won.
We have players with experience who help our younger players, and it is important to create such a partnership between them. I can say that we dropped two points tonight, we should have got all three, but Benfica are a great team and we will have to get a result over there.
Geoffrey Kondogbia, Monaco midfielder
Our feelings are mixed, because we could have scored. We created quite a few chances. There were also situations where they could have opened the scoring. So mixed feelings.
There wasn't just [Lucas Ocampos's early opportunity]. We had other chances. It's true that was a great chance but it wasn't the only one, as I said. There were two or three other opportunities when we could have broken the deadlock.
We had a great goalkeeper this evening, as we often do. I must congratulate him and I hope he'll continue in this form.
Everyone still has a say in the group. Our ambition remains to progress, so we're going to try and get something in Lisbon.
Jérémy Toulalan, Monaco midfielder
We can't have any regrets given the way the game went. We would have liked to have won the game, of course, because that would have allowed us to be better off in the standings, and it would have been a big step towards the next round.
I think a draw was the right result because we had chances, but they did too, perhaps even more than we did. We had a clear-cut one in the third minute, but I think that if we didn't have Suba, we would have conceded. We have always known from the start that any of the four teams could go through. That means we're going to have to get results, which isn't going to be easy. We've played well in the three games so far, but we'll have to do at least as well, if not better, in the next three.
Jorge Jesus, Benfica coach
During the first half we had problems, Monaco had a few chances then the game was more balanced. I have to say that [Monaco goalkeeper Danijel] Subašić was the man of the match. We were able to raise our level but then it changed with the red card. During the last 15 minutes Monaco had the edge and we could not create any chances, but I think overall Benfica were the better team.
Leverkusen won, where a draw would have been better for us. The return game in Lisbon [on 4 November] will be decisive for qualification. We are in a big competition, the teams are strong, the group is tough. It is always difficult to win away from home but, as I said, the return game will be decisive.
