Matchday two facts and figures

• AS Roma captain Francesco Totti became the oldest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League with his equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Manchester City FC. He was on target three days after his 38th birthday, eclipsing the record previously held by Ryan Giggs, who scored for Manchester United FC at SL Benfica on 14 September 2011 aged 37 years and 290 days.

• In coming on as a substitute for FC Barcelona at Paris Saint-Germain, Xavi Hernández appeared in his 143rd UEFA Champions League match. That lifted him ahead of Raúl González at the top of the competition's all-time rankings. A day later Iker Casillas joined his erstwhile Real Madrid CF team-mate on 142 games.

• Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty for Madrid against PFC Ludogorets Razgrad was his 69th goal in the UEFA Champions League, group stage to final. It kept him one ahead of Barcelona's Lionel Messi, a scorer the previous evening versus Paris, and just two in arrears of record marksman Raúl.

• John Terry, the captain of Chelsea FC, made his 100th UEFA Champions League group stage to final appearance in the Blues' 1-0 win at Sporting Clube de Portugal. He is the 22nd player to reach that milestone and the 13th to achieve it with a single club.

• Danny Welbeck's hat-trick against Galatasaray AŞ was only the third in the UEFA Champions League by an Arsenal FC player after Thierry Henry (v Roma, 7 November 2002) and Nicklas Bendtner (v FC Porto, 9 March 2010). At 31 minutes, Welbeck's was the fastest of the three trebles.

• Burak Yılmaz's consolation penalty for Galatasaray was his tenth goal in the UEFA Champions League, making him the 118th player to reach double figures in the competition – and the third this season after Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (FC Schalke 04) and Kostas Mitroglou (Olympiacos FC). Former Galatasaray striker Hakan Şükür is the highest-scoring Turkish player with 13 goals.

• FC Bayern München's 1-0 win at PFC CSKA Moskva was their 100th victory in the UEFA Champions League. Only three other clubs have reached that landmark – Real Madrid (118 wins), Barcelona (109) and Manchester United (107).

• Olympiacos's 2-0 defeat by Malmö FF was not the best way to celebrate their 100th UEFA Champions League fixture. They are the 12th club to amass a century of games.

• Blaise Matuidi's winner for Paris against Barcelona was the French club's 100th goal in the UEFA Champions League. They are the 19th team to achieve that feat. The PSG-Barça game was also the 400th match in the competition to feature a French side.

• RSC Anderlecht's 3-0 home defeat against Borussia Dortmund was their tenth UEFA Champions League game in succession without a victory. It is the third separate sequence of ten or more fixtures without winning that the Brussels club have recorded. The only other team to have done so more than once is Rangers FC, on two occasions, though the longest winless streak of all, 23 matches, belongs to FC Steaua Bucureşti and is still ongoing.
