Marcelo Brozović's 49th-minute strike earned GNK Dinamo Zagreb victory over Aalborg Bk in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie.
Brozović's composed finish was all that separated the two teams in a close contest at the Aalborg Stadion.
Anders Jacobsen was presented with a great chance to give AaB the lead in the opening exchanges but was denied by a reflex save from Eduardo in the Dinamo Zagreb goal. A second goalscoring opportunity fell to Thomas Enevoldsen in the latter stages of the first half but the Danish midfielder shot wide of the target.
Dinamo Zagreb proved to be more clinical in front of goal when Domagoj Antolić found Brozović on the edge of the box four minutes after the restart. The 21 year-old Croatian international cut inside and curled the ball into the far corner.
In the final ten minutes of the game Dinamo pressed for a second but AaB keeper Nicolai Larsen denied them twice with low saves. Brozović came close to doubling his tally but Larsen again insured the deficit remained at one ahead of the 6 August return.
