Liverpool FC have signed Belgium striker Divock Origi from LOSC Lille for a fee believed to be in the region of €12.6m.

Origi, who has penned a five-year contract with the UEFA Champions League contenders, will be loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the duration of the 2014/15 season. Origi, 19, scored six times in 40 top-flight appearances for the northern club, the first of his goals for Lille coming on his debut against ES Troyes AC in February 2013.

"I am very, very happy and delighted a club as big as Liverpool showed interest in me – I'm very excited," the teenager told the Reds' official website. "I know it's a club with a great history, great fans and a lot of great players. Liverpool are one of the greatest clubs in the world and I'm very excited to be part of this great history."

Origi impressed during Belgium's run to the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, playing in all five of the Red Devils' games. He notably scored the winning goal, his first at senior international level, against Russia in the group stage.

The Ostend-born forward becomes Liverpool's sixth summer signing following the arrivals of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren from Southampton FC, Bayer 04 Leverkusen's Emre Can and SL Benfica winger Lazar Marković.
