Fresh from helping the Netherlands finish third at the FIFA World Cup, Bruno Martins Indi has left Feyenoord for FC Porto in a €7.7m deal.
The Portuguese-born defender, 22, has agreed a contract with the Dragons lasting until June 2018. Martins Indi, a native of Barreiro on the outskirts of Lisbon, departs Feyenoord after scoring five goals in 102 Eredivisie outings.
He joined the Rotterdam club aged 13, having moved to the Netherlands when he was three months old. "I feel this is the right time to leave," he told the Feyenoord website. "It is a good deal for Feyenoord and a great challenge for me.”
Indi, who can also play at left-back, made his debut for the Netherlands on 15 August 2012 in a friendly against Belgium. At the World Cup in Brazil he featured six times, raising his number of Oranje caps to 22.
Porto begin their UEFA Champions League campaign in the play-offs while Feyenoord enter the competition at the third qualifying round stage.
