Ricardo Carvalho and Éric Abidal have committed their futures to Ligue 1 runners-up AS Monaco FC for a further 12 months.
The defenders – who joined the principality outfit at the beginning of last season – have renewed until June 2015 their respective contracts with a club preparing to return to the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time in a decade.
Carvalho, 36, was a near ever-present last term following his transfer from Real Madrid CF, appearing in all but one of Monaco's 38 top-flight fixtures. Abidal, two years Carvalho's junior, was the ex-Portuguese international's centre-back partner on 26 occasions in Ligue 1, the former France player having moved back to the Stade Louis II from FC Barcelona.
