FC Levadia Tallinn left it late to overcome SP La Fiorita 1-0 in their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round opener.
The Sammarinese outfit were closing in on a commendable goalless draw when Levadia midfielder Heiko Tamm emerged from the bench and silenced the home crowd three minutes into added time. The visitors will defend their 1-0 advantage when the sides reconvene next Tuesday.
It was mostly one-way traffic from the off, Vladislav Ivanov and Igor Subbotin both drawing good saves from home keeper Simone Montanari. A free-kick from Ilja Antonov then rattled the woodwork as Levadia continued to probe.
The away team refused to relent after the break, Ingemar Teever going close before Montanari produced a fine double save to deny Antonov and then Tamm. With the clock ticking down, the pressure eventually told when Tamm received Teever's cushioned pass and found the net with precision.
