The UEFA.com users' Team of the Year is one of ten Official Honorees in the sports category at the Webby Awards, which drew 12,000 entries from over 60 nations this year. A record 6.3 million votes were cast for the 2013 users' Team of the Year, which gives fans the chance to select their stars of the preceding 12 months.
The 6,310,237 votes were cast by more than 525,000 visitors, surpassing 2012 when 5.3 million selections were made. Almost 86,000 of this year's picks were made directly via the official UEFA Champions League Twitter page.

The Facebook page has boomed in popularity over the course of season, the follower count more than doubling from 10.6 million in September to 23 million now – making it the most followed page of any sports league or association in the world.
Users from over 50 countries have been treated to exclusive video content, prize giveaways and Q&A sessions with greats of the game – and there are more exciting initiatives to come in the build-up to the Lisbon final.
"Honorees are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best."
Last year, the official UEFA Champions League website was honoured as one of the world's top five sports sites with a nomination for the 17th Webby Awards.
