Karim Benzema and his Real Madrid CF attacking partners Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are, on the whole, having a not unagreeable season.

Treble-chasing Madrid have scored 135 goals this term, and 85 of them have come from that 'El BBC' as the trio are nicknamed. It was Benzema's turn to draw a rare blank at home to Borussia Dortmund last week but no matter, Bale and Ronaldo – equalling the UEFA Champions League single-season record of 14 goals – helped ensure a 3-0 lead for Tuesday's quarter-final second leg in Germany.

"They are great players," Benzema, 26, told UEFA.com. "I get on really well with them, whether it's on or off the pitch. It's easy to play alongside players like that, they are strong, quick and very technical.

"But we are a team, it's not only about us, the three forwards, we have got the help of the whole team. Our team plays attacking football, and as I have said, there are some great players up front, and it's great for us to score a lot of goals, and great that we help the team to win games."

Assuming Madrid do eliminate the side that inflicted their third straight semi-final defeat last year, they will be only one step from the 24 May decider in Lisbon – and that elusive tenth European title. And if they do make it, Benzema is in no doubt who else he wants to see there.

"Real Madrid against ... Paris," the France forward said. "Why? Because Real are my team, and Paris because they are a French team ... We've played three consecutive semi-finals. This year we are doing well, we still have a few games to play to reach the final, but we are getting closer to it."
