There are constant reminders at Valdebebas, Real Madrid CF's training ground, of the club's great history.
The images from decades of trophy parades – including of Raúl González celebrating with David Beckham – might be daunting to the current crop of Madrid players, but not, it seems, to Gareth Bale. The Welsh international is "enjoying every minute" of his first season in the Spanish capital, even though it feels "quite surreal" to have come so far in such a short space of time.
Still just 24, Bale told UEFA.com all about settling into Madrid life, how the UEFA Champions League inspired him as a youngster – including memories of the last time the Merengues won the competition with that Zinédine Zidane volley – his own experiences of it and what the forward wants to achieve at "the biggest club in the world".
