Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have to make do without Robbie Kruse for the rest of the campaign after it was confirmed that the forward has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Kruse, 25, sustained the knock in training on Friday and scans confirmed the extent of the injury on Saturday which makes the Austrailian international a doubt for the FIFA World Cup. Kruse has made 15 Bundesliga appeareances this term and featured on four occasions as Leverkusen finished second in UEFA Champions League Group A.
Sami Hyypiä's charges take on Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 with the first leg in Germany on 18 Feburary.
