Ronaldo content but sees room for improvement

Cristiano Ronaldo was as happy with a point against Juventus as he was to overlook a personal milestone, but he warned that Real Madrid CF must tighten up to go far.

He may have equalled the record number of goals in a UEFA Champions League group stage with his eighth strike in just four games, but Cristiano Ronaldo was looking firmly forward after the 2-2 draw against Juventus which put Real Madrid CF on the verge of qualification.

According to Ronaldo, Madrid must defend better, a problem concerning "the whole team, not only the defenders". The Portuguese forward and Gareth Bale scored early in the second half, cancelling out Arturo Vidal's first-half penalty, but a Fernando Llorente header earned Juventus a draw. "It was a very important point for us," the Spanish striker told UEFA.com. "If we win the next two games we will qualify."

Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid forward
Of course goals are important but I don't think about beating records, I just try to focus on my game and help the team.

It was a very good result. We knew before the game that one point would be enough and this is what we got. It was a difficult game, away against Juventus. We knew they would give 100% on the pitch because they needed points but one point for us is good. We are all but through and we are happy with that.

The atmosphere was very good; this stadium is amazing, the fans were unbelievable, it was a good night. Bale? Very good, he helped the team a lot. He is a fantastic player, he showed he is a very good player and we are happy to have him here with us.

We know that we have to improve, not just the defence but the forwards and the midfield because we cannot concede all the goals that we conceded. This is something that we have to improve but it's a problem of all the team, not only of the defenders.

Marcelo, Real Madrid defender
We did not play well in the first half, we are fully aware of that. However I think we played much better in the second half and we earned a good result. We know we still have to improve but I think we are growing game by game.

Fernando Llorente, Juventus striker
I think we have played a very good game today. We saw a strong Juve, a Juve side fully aware of what was at stake. We managed to earn a very important point, especially considering that Galatasaray lost in Copenhagen. The group is still very open and if we win the next two games, I think we will qualify.

I'm very happy to have scored another goal against Real Madrid [after the one at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on matchday three]. It wasn't easy but the team worked hard and did well, I think today we have seen a great Juve. I felt sorry [for Martín Cáceres] after that mistake [which led to Ronaldo's goal] but then he made amends, sending in a great cross which allowed me to score the equaliser.

Gianluigi Buffon, Juventus goalkeeper
Our situation is very similar to the one of last season [when Juventus managed to qualify despite starting with three consecutive draws]. I think we can regret other points we left along our path, not those against Real Madrid. Playing at the same level as them is not something many teams can do. They have incredible players, every time they pass the midfield line you have to be worried. They have players who can score in any moment of the game.

København proved they are not a weak side by beating Galatasaray tonight. We will have to beat them in our next game. It will not be easy and I don't think that Galatasaray will definitely lose against Madrid either. Tonight [Iker] Casillas was superb; he made three great saves allowing his side to earn a point.
