I thought our shape was good and we limited Barcelona to very few chances until the sending-off and goal. We could have passed the ball better in the first half but in the second we were a lot better. For 25 minutes we were, I won't say equal, but comfortable.
My initial reaction [to Charlie Mulgrew's miss] was that it was in – but it flashed past the post. It was a great opportunity and you don't get many. Of course two minutes later Cesc [Fàbregas] scores the winner, so the game has hinged on those five minutes.
They'll be really disappointed that for all their efforts they didn't get something out of the game but they can take satisfaction and pride that they are competing, and competing well, against the toughest group in the Champions League.
I'm pleased with the result in Amsterdam [a 1-1 draw between AFC Ajax and AC Milan]. The double-header with Ajax, if we have any aspirations to qualify, is pivotal.
Gerardo Martino, Barcelona coach
We had the majority of possession and controlled the game well. At the beginning we couldn't find a clear rhythm but afterwards, in the second half, we were a lot calmer. Our opponents had last year's game in their minds and they tried to do the same things tonight, like putting [Giorgios] Samaras up front and not as a left-sided attacker.
We played a complete game with consistency over the 90 minutes. I agree with Cesc Fàbregas who said it was perhaps our most complete game of the season in terms of how we performed as a team.
It's impossible not to miss [the injured Lionel] Messi. There are times, in situations like these, that we have to stand up, look to put in a good display and look to win. That's pretty much what we did tonight.
