FC Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba has been ruled out of the UEFA Champions League double-header against AC Milan after the 24-year-old suffered a thigh tear while recovering from an existing injury.

The Spanish international has been sidelined since picking up a right hamstring tear during the 3-2 Liga home win over Sevilla FC on 14 September. The left-sided defender's latest setback comes in the form of a torn right thigh muscle sustained in training with the Azulgrana. The injury will keep Alba out for about six weeks, causing him to miss the Group H games against Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on 22 October and in Catalonia on 6 November.

Gerardo Martino's Liga pacesetters also lead their UEFA Champions League section having gained maximum points from matches against AFC Ajax and Celtic FC.
