With his side preparing to take on Arsenal FC, SSC Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that Camilo Zúñiga has extended his contract with the Partenopei for another four years until June 2018.
"I'm glad to announce that Zúñiga will stay with us for another five years," tweeted De Laurentis this morning, posting a picture of the player signing his new contract. The 27-year-old Colombian international, whose previous deal with Napoli was set to expire at the end of the season, wore the captain's armband for the first time during Saturday's 2-0 win against Genoa CFC. The defender, who joined Napoli from AC Siena in 2009, helped the club to win the Coppa Italia in 2012.
Rafael Benítez's side, who kicked off UEFA Champions League Group F with a 2-1 victory against last season's beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund, are second in Serie A, two points behind leaders AS Roma after six games.
