Borussia Dortmund will be without captain Sebastian Kehl for approximately six weeks.

Kehl sustained an ankle injury in training on Sunday, with team doctor Markus Braun subsequently confirming that the 33-year-old midfielder has torn ligaments. Dortmund's initial prognosis means Kehl will miss not only Wednesday's UEFA Champions League Group F opener at SSC Napoli, but also the home game against Olympique de Marseille on 1 October. He must also be considered doubtful for the trip to Arsenal FC on 22 October.

Former German international Kehl, in his 13th season at Dortmund, has started only twice for Jürgen Klopp's team in all competitions this term.
