AC Milan have re-signed Kaká from Real Madrid CF.
The playmaker has rejoined the club he left in a €65m transfer in June 2009 on a reported two-year deal. Speaking before flying out of the Spanish capital on Monday morning, the 87-times capped Brazilian international said: "I am very happy. The negotiations were long, but now I want to thank the supporters and my team-mates for their lovely words. I'm going back home! Now I can experience many happy moments with Milan."
Though his former Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti took charge at the Santiago Bernabéu this summer, the 31-year-old has opted to return to the Rossoneri, with whom he enjoyed considerable success during his first spell, scoring 70 times in 193 Serie A outings.
Having arrived from São Paulo FC in 2003, Kaká helped Milan to the Scudetto in his first season in Italy and UEFA Champions League glory in 2006/07, top-scoring in the competition with ten goals, three of which came in a 5-3 aggregate defeat of Manchester United FC in the semi-finals.
Awarded the 2007 FIFA Ballon d'Or largely for those exploits, Kaká won a Liga title and the 2011 Copa del Rey in four seasons with Madrid, registering 23 goals in 85 league appearances.
Kaká will return to Spain when Massimiliano Allegri's Milan play FC Barcelona on UEFA Champions League matchday four.
