Manchester City FC will be without captain Vincent Kompany for up to six weeks as the centre-back has a groin problem.
The Belgium defender suffered the injury in the opening game of the Premier League season, a 4-0 win against Newcastle United FC, and missed last weekend's loss at Cardiff City AFC. "Nothing is new with Vincent," said City manager Manuel Pellegrini on the eve of his new club's third league game of the season, against Hull City AFC. "[At the time] the doctor said it will be four to six weeks. Maybe next week we will see how he improves, but less than one month is impossible."
Kompany will thus miss Belgium's FIFA World Cup qualifying trip to Scotland on 6 September and City's opening UEFA Champions League match of the season, at FC Viktoria Plzen on 17 September, with holders FC Bayern München and Russian champions PFC CSKA Moskva also in Group D. Micah Richards is likewise set to miss the Hull game with a hamstring problem, although Matija Nastasić is fit again after an ankle injury.
