AC Milan have bolstered their attacking options ahead of the start of the UEFA Champions League group stage with the signing of striker Alessandro Matri, who joins from Juventus for a fee in the region of €11m.
The 29-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract with the Rossoneri, made his Serie A debut with Milan in 2003 but left the club the following year. After catching the eye while at Cagliari Calcio between 2007 and 2011, Matri helped Juventus to win successive Italian titles and two Italian Supercups.
Capped five times by Italy, Matri will again work under Massimiliano Allegri, his coach at Cagliari, who Milan face on Sunday in Serie A. The Rossoneri, who have sold Kevin-Prince Boateng to FC Schalke 04, will face FC Barcelona, AFC Ajax and Celtic FC in UEFA Champions League Group H.
