FC Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac will be out for up to six weeks after he suffered a hamstring injury.

Already out for the majority of pre-season due to muscular problems in his thigh, Kolasinac confirmed he has now suffered torn muscles. The injury not only rules him out for the UEFA Champions League play-off against PAOK FC on Wednesday and next Tuesday, but also means he will miss Schalke's first group game either in this competition or the UEFA Europa League.

The 20-year-old made his Bundesliga debut in September 2012 before making his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League against Montpellier Hérault SC a few weeks later. He became a regular throughout the second half of last season and was part of Germany's squad during the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Israel this summer, although he did not feature.
