Real Sociedad de Fútbol will have a 2-0 UEFA Champions League play-off lead over Olympique Lyonnais to defend at home next Wednesday but captain Xabi Prieto warned "the tie is not decided".

Spectacular goals by Antoine Griezmann and Haris Seferovic allowed Real to exact some revenge for a round of 16 loss at Stade de Gerland in their last European tie in 2004. Prieto paid tribute to Real's large travelling support while Lyon skipper Maxime Gonalons admitted they were taken by surprise by Real's attacking approach.

Xabi Prieto, Real midfielder
I think everyone would have been happy with a 2-0 result before the game, so we are satisfied. [The fans] were impressive and we are grateful. We hope they enjoyed the game and the result. It is clear that we could not have achieved this without them.

The tie is not decided. A bad game could condemn us. The team was calm and there were moments to enjoy. We wanted a rematch after they knocked us out nine years ago.

Maxime Gonalons, Lyon midfielder
We are disappointed because we wanted to do well in this first leg at home. We know how important it is not to concede goals; tonight we conceded two. So obviously we are not in the best position now before the second leg. We know that we faced a very good Spanish team, they caused us a lot of problems. We can only congratulate them tonight.

We have already turned things around in some games that were not in our favour. We will go over there with a lot of ambition, and even if tonight we are two goals behind we will try to do our best over there.

It is not a slap in the face, we simply were not there during the first half in many aspects, especially in the individual duels. In this competition you have to be strong in that. Obviously Real dominated us tonight, especially in the first half. In the second half we were not clinical enough, we created some chances, and the game could have been totally different.

We did not expect to be playing such a focussed and tough Spanish team. We watched them in the video session, and they were a team that waited for the other team; but tonight we saw the opposite, they came out for us and made it really difficult for us. It is not for nothing that they finished fourth in the Liga; they are a good team and they deserved to win tonight.

Henri Bedimo, Lyon defender
We sometimes showed too much impatience, but that is how it is. The other team knew each other really well. I am convinced that this game will be like a lesson for us, and that it will allow the squad to reach a new level in terms of maturity.
