Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will be unavailable for FC Schalke 04 in both legs of their UEFA Champions League play-off against FC PAOK.
The Dutch striker suffered a partial ligament rupture in his right knee and faces "several weeks" on the sidelines, according to Schalke's medical department. Huntelaar, 30, sustained the injury in a collision with VfL Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio on Saturday at the end of the first half and did not reappear after the break. Schalke ended up losing the game 4-0.
Huntelaar, capped 60 times by the Netherlands, has been a key player for Schalke since arriving three years ago, scoring 80 goals in 121 matches in all competitions. The Royal Blues host PAOK for the first leg on Wednesday with the tie to be concluded in Greece the following week.
