Danish champions FC København have bolstered their squad ahead of the UEFA Champions League group stage with the signing of forward Fanendo Adi on a four-year contract from Slovakian outfit FK AS Trenčín.
Adi, 22, scored 23 goals in 58 league appearances in two spells at Trenčín either side of stints in Ukraine with FC Metalurh Donetsk, FC Dynamo Kyiv and SC Tavriya Simferopol. Indeed, the Nigeria forward scored a 23-minute hat-trick on his only appearance for Trenčín this term before putting pen to paper on a move to the UEFA Champions League group stage entrants.
"I am really looking forward to representing FC København and testing myself at a big club in a league and a country that I have only heard positive things about," Adi told the club's official website. "It wasn't a hard choice because I think FCK is the right step for me now. Despite my young age, I have tried a lot in my career, and I know that at Copenhagen I will be forced to do my best and to work hard every day in order to contribute at Scandinavia's leading club."
FCK's sporting director Carsten Jensen added: "Fanendo Adi is a player who can contribute to our team with his physical strength and his quality in the box. However, Adi is still young and has a potential which should develop with time and this makes him a fine addition to our other forwards. We are happy that in spite of competition from clubs in bigger leagues, Adi has chosen to spend his future at FCK and I am looking forward to working with him."
