Left-back Cristian Ansaldi is poised to move to FC Zenit, having played his last game for FC Rubin Kazan on Sunday.
The 26-year-old Argentinian international will join Zenit subject to passing a medical, having transferred to Rubin from CA Newell's Old Boys in 2008 and made 128 Russian Premier League appearances for the Kazan side, scoring twice. The stadium announcer said during half-time of Sunday's 0-0 home draw with PFC CSKA Moskva that Ansaldi was to leave Rubin, where he won two Russian titles and the 2011/12 Russian Cup.
Ansaldi will be Zenit's fifth summer signing following the arrivals of goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin and midfielders Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Ivan Solovyov and Andrey Arshavin. Zenit are 1-0 up going into the home second leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against FC Nordsjælland, while Rubin lead 2-1 midway through their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round meeting with another Danish team, Randers FC.
