After completing the capture of Spain winger Jesús Navas last month, Manchester City FC have again raided Sevilla FC to sign striker Álvaro Negredo.

The 27-year-old, who has six goals in 14 outings for the Spanish national side, has joined last season's Premier League runners-up after the two clubs agreed a fee believed to be €24m.

Negredo, who moved to Sevilla from Real Madrid CF at the start of the 2009/10 campaign, leaves the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán after four years during which he made 139 Liga appearances and scored 70 goals. He will fill the void created by the departure of Carlos Tévez to Juventus earlier this summer.

Negredo never featured for Madrid's first team but instead made his name during a 31-goal, two-season stint at UD Almería. A native of the capital, he began his career with Rayo Vallecano de Madrid. Like Navas, the powerful centre-forward was a member of the Spain squad that triumphed at UEFA EURO 2012.

Negredo becomes the third close-season arrival at the City of Manchester Stadium following the acquisition of Navas and Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho from FC Shakhtar Donetsk. Sevilla, meanwhile, have lost three other players to the Premier League, with Luis Alberto going to Liverpool FC, Antonio Luna transferred to Aston Villa FC and José Campaña destined for Crystal Palace FC.
