Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from AS Saint-Étienne for an undisclosed fee.
The French-born Gabonese international has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with last season's UEFA Champions League runners-up. Aubameyang, 24, is the Schwarzgelben's second summer acquisition following the arrival in May of Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos from SV Werder Bremen.
Former AC Milan trainee Aubameyang initially joined St-Etienne on loan in January 2011 following temporary spells with Dijon FCO, LOSC Lille and AS Monaco FC. A scorer of 16 Ligue 1 goals in 2011/12, Aubameyang bettered that tally by three last term, when Les Verts won the French League Cup for the first time. In June he registered a hat-trick of penalties for his country in a FIFA World Cup qualifying victory against Niger.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: "We are very pleased that in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang we were able to sign a player we really wanted. He is offensively very versatile, has a lot of pace in his game, is a threat in front of goal and will provide us with more options."
