SL Benfica have signed their second Serbian international in two days after landing midfielder Miralem Sulejmani from AFC Ajax on a five-year deal.
Sulejmani, 24, arrives as a free agent, ending a successful five-season stay in Amsterdam – where he lifted a third successive title this term. He will link up in Lisbon with international team-mates Nemanja Matić and Lazar Marković, the winger having sealed a switch from FK Partizan on Monday.
It was Partizan where Belgrade-born Sulejmani started his professional career before moving to the Netherlands and sc Heerenveen in 2006. After two campaigns there, he was snapped up by Ajax for €17m, then a record transfer between two Eredivisie clubs.
