Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that German international Mario Götze will move to rivals FC Bayern München in July.

The newly-crowned Bundesliga champions have triggered the release clause in the 20-year-old's contract, reported to be €37m. "We are deeply disappointed, but we emphasise that Mario and his agent have acted absolutely according to his contract," said Dortmund managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke.

The versatile Götze signed new terms with the Schwarzgelben in March 2012, tying himself to Dortmund until 2016. This summer's departure will end a 12-year association with the club with whom he won league titles in 2011 and 2012.

His current side could yet meet his future employers in next month's UEFA Champions League showpiece, with both in semi-final action this week. Bayern host FC Barcelona tonight while Dortmund welcome Real Madrid CF on Wednesday.
