Porto stranglehold pleases Pereira

Our first goal was to win, our second goal was not to concede. But after the great quality match that we played from the first to the last minute, I think we deserved a second goal. I'm not completely satisfied in that we couldn't get a goal to make it 2-0; that would have been a fairer reflection of what happened on the pitch.

That's the Porto I want: a team that puts on pressure, that wants to control the game, that wants to score. I'm just sorry that we could not score the second. The difference between the Champions League and other competitions is that an error, a moment where we are not well positioned, could be a moment when the opponent scores, so it was very important not to concede here at home. We were a united and consistent team.

Our opponents are at a high level, but today they could not play their own game as we were very aggressive at the moments of transition. We never allowed Málaga into the game. The tie is at half-time and now we are going to see what we can do in Malaga. We will try to score because doing that could be crucial.

We played badly offensively. We are not happy with the game. At no point did we feel we clicked. Having said that, with all of the possession that Porto had, they didn't cause us that much damage. Our opponents do deserve credit, however, as they squeezed us out of the match.

We wanted to be offensive, but Porto wouldn't allow us to be. In terms of creating chances and finding spaces we were bad, frankly. It is not just the fault of the attacking players; when the team is not working it's down to everyone. We would have liked to have scored an away goal, but it wasn't to be. The scoreline is one which we can turn around. Returning to our own stadium we will be confident of reversing the situation.
