Our Champions Leauge campaign is something special. I would never have expected us to collect 14 points. I knew however, that we would be tricky opponents for the other teams. I'm not sure if City lacked motivation today, but we certainly didn't make life any easier for them. Our tactical approach was excellent.

We didn't give them any room and if they did manage to break through, we had Roman [Weidenfeller] as a solid back-up. I think that City expected it to be a different game, but we were very aggressive and simply didn't give them many opportunities to spread the play.

We are happy with the way things have gone for us so far this Champions League season but we know that it's an incredibly tough competition. Milan, Porto or Juventus are potential opponents in the next stage, but we have surely gained some respect with our performances in the group stages. We will just have to wait and see what’s in store for us. It's been a great experience so far.

Roberto Mancini, Manchester City manager
We lost our qualification [for the UEFA Europa League] tonight, but really we had lost it before tonight. We tried to qualify but we were missing players. We had chances to score but if you don't take them it's difficult to win

We are not in the Europa League, and for this we should be disappointed. This can help us for the Premier League but we wanted to try and play in the Europa League; this was our target tonight.

Last season we did better. This year we had a very difficult group but if you make mistakes in the first two or three games it is even more difficult. The Champions League can be strange, Dortmund last year went out in the group stages and like us were in fourth place. This year I think they can win the Champions League.
