It was always going to be a difficult game. They showed that they are a very good team. Maybe with the timing of the [winning] goal there was a little bit of luck, but I think overall we deserved to win.
We probably lacked a little bit of experience – we didn't have [Frank] Lampard or [Ashley] Cole available [through injury], and John Terry didn't play – so there was a lot of Champions League experience missing from the pitch. But I think the players that played did incredibly well and deserve a lot of credit. We managed to win under a lot of pressure.
It's not going to make things easier [to play against Juventus], but it's going to give us a good chance to qualify. The last game between Shakhtar and Juventus will be crucial now. We need to win our last game [against FC Nordsjælland], but we need some points from Turin as well.
You look at the goals and we've got a lot of players back, so it's not like we were outnumbered, but we certainly need to work on our defensive organisation in general; it will improve over time. When you look at the goals – for the first one we had two players slipping, and for the second we had plenty of players back to deal with the cut-back. The way we are defending certainly needs to be improved.
I guess there's an extra motivation for the opposition to play against the champions of last season, so it makes every game hard for us.
Mircea Lucescu, Shakhtar coach
We dominated for much of the match, we had a lot of opportunities to score and I think we were a lot better than Chelsea. We were better organised and the quality of our attacks was good. It was a pity that in the final minutes we couldn't get on the attack to score a third goal, because there was space behind them.
Chelsea have a lot of big powerful players, so we know it is dangerous to give them corners. It is painful to lose this match tonight, but we have another two matches to play.
I am confident because I have seen my team play a very good match, exactly like they did in Donetsk and against Juventus; it was unfortunate that our goalkeeper made mistakes tonight.
Willian and Fernandinho are players at a very good level, a very high level. Fernandinho is very important to us, he knows how to organise the game in the middle of pitch.
