Hernández tires of United's taste for drama

Manchester United FC produced another thrilling spectacle for their supporters with the 3-2 comeback win over SC Braga in Group H but the view in the home dressing room is they have to stop giving themselves a mountain to climb in matches. For the eighth time this term – and second time in successive UEFA Champions League games – United fell behind, conceding twice inside 20 minutes before battling back to win and two-goal Javier Hernández admitted to mixed feelings afterwards. Braga's Hugo Viana, meanwhile, took great heart from his team's impressive display and said they would look forward to the return fixture in Portugal with confidence.

I never like to talk about the individual but the collective. We started the match badly again and conceded two goals – that's [four] games now where that this has happened to us at home, and we can't let it happen again if we're going to win things. I'm happy to have played my part and got the two goals but I always say it's down to the team and the most important thing is the three points.

The manager said in the press conference [yesterday] that we're using different formations to make life difficult for our rivals and be less predictable. What is most important is we're creating [chances] and again today we could convert them and get the three points. We have nine from nine now which helps us a lot and give us confidence. It's a boost for the game on Sunday [against Chelsea FC], which is going to be very important.

We lost the two goals early doors, we are glad to get the result in the end and it puts us on nine points now. It has happened quite a lot – it is becoming a bit of a habit. Hopefully that is something we can eradicate. We don't want to give ourselves that sort of deficit at the start of the game and hopefully we can get off to a better start in the future. Some of the link-up play was fantastic. Robin [van Persie], Wazza [Wayne Rooney], Chicharito [Hernández], [Shinji] Kagawa and [Tom] Cleverley: the link-up play was excellent and I thought we were unlucky to go in 2-1 at half-time. [For his goal] I was devastated when I miskicked it at the start but I turned around and managed to get a bit of a toe on it.

I'm happy [to make] my debut today. I've been learning a lot from everybody, and these kind of games are good for me, I can learn good things. [On Alan's header for the first goal] It was difficult, I didn't see the ball. It came fast and the guy got a good header. It was difficult for me to defend the ball.

It is difficult to come here and play as well as we did. We were 2-0 up but we knew if United scored before half-time it would be very difficult and that is what happened. They scored a second and a third – with a bit of luck for the second one – but we are very happy with our game. Not the result, because we were 2-0 up, but with the game and the way we played. It was very good.

We weren't nervous at any time. We played very good football and that is why we have to be very happy with our game. We have to play the same game, at the same pace [when United visit Braga]. We know if we win our two games at home with United and Galatasaray it will be very good for us and maybe we can think about getting through. We have two games at home and then go away for the last game to Cluj. I don't know what will happen but we're very confident about these next two games at home.
