Simply fantastic! That's our team's spirit. We worked hard to reach this point. I congratulate the fans and the team. I can't find words to express my gratitude to everyone. I don't want to single out players. It doesn't matter who scored and who gave the assists. The team is the one that won tonight.
We must have been born under a lucky star. Emotions are overwhelming, but I'm far from euphoric. We earned a grand victory, but you shouldn't speculate that now we have to win every match. It's the Champions League and we shouldn't forget that.
It's a misconception that you can somehow inspire the team in the dressing room during half-time. What we did is we changed the tactical lineup a bit and I think we manged well there. Our team also knows how to play on the counterattack.
Jupp Heynckes, Bayern coach
I knew before the match that we were up against a very good side, and I'm not just saying that because they won in Lille. BATE are a very well organised team, especially in defence. They have proven that again today. They fought so hard.
You simply have to take the lead in games like this, for instance with the big chance Toni Kroos had. Immediately they scored. I don't know how much possession we had and there was only a short spell after the break where we didn't have them under pressure.
Their best player was the goalkeeper, so that tells you how much pressure we created. Then there is [Franck] Ribéry's shot against the bar, so we have had some bad luck as well. One thing added to another and in the end you have to accept their win.
