Player Rater winner Silvio Proto told UEFA.com he made his father happy with his performance in RSC Anderlecht's 0-0 UEFA Champions League Group C draw at AC Milan, but while the Rossoneri are still winless at home this season, Philippe Mexès and Mathieu Flamini can see hope.
Silvio Proto, Anderlecht goalkeeper
I'm delighted, especially because I have Italian roots, Italian blood. I think today is one of the best days of my father's life. The most difficult save was the first one from Flamini. He was very close to me but I narrowed the angle and he hit it at me.
Last time Anderlecht were in the UEFA Champions League, I was injured. AC Milan have always been the club of my heart. I remember I was so sad when I was sat on my sofa watching them and I said: 'If one day I get the chance to play at that stadium, I will do my best to have a great game.' Today, I did it.
It will be difficult to qualify. Málaga won 3-0 against Zenit, and for me Zenit were the top favourites in the group. It's going to be difficult but we have to take it game by game. We don't know what will happen but we will definitely do our best to reach the next round.
Lucas Biglia, Anderlecht midfielder
The first half was very good for us. In the second we lost possession a bit too easily but in general we are happy. I had a clear chance early in the second half but didn't manage to take it, unfortunately. However, we are happy because it was a big point for us against a strong side. Before the game, I thought Milan and Málaga were the best teams in this group, so I think that earning a point here was very important for us. Playing here against a team with such history was a great experience.
Olivier Deschacht, Anderlecht defender
We weren't sure we could get something from San Siro. Yes, we wanted to beat them but, since they were at home, I think this is a bonus point for us. We are thrilled. They had two clear chances but Proto was there. I think he is the best goalkeeper in Belgium. He saved us but I think the result was fair, because we had two or three chances ourselves.
In the closing stages Milan came on strong but we kept the clean sheet so we are very happy. Málaga beat a Zenit side who signed players for €90m so this is an open group. Anything can happen. We have to stay modest now, after all we earned only one point. In a difficult stadium against a strong team, but it's still just a point.
Philippe Mexès, Milan defender
We were not too far off winning this game and I think it's important not to have conceded. I think we are on the right path. We are working hard to improve. We are not playing badly but we aren't scoring goals. You need to put a few players in the opposition box to score but I think there was some good movement in the second half. I'm satisfied with my performance. All the defence played well, even if we gave them some chances. The group is difficult but we believe we can make it.
Mathieu Flamini, Milan midfielder
We didn't give much away and we created some chances – all we were missing was a goal. Personally, I'm satisfied because I had not played for a while in the UEFA Champions League as I was injured last season. Milan must always win whenever we take the pitch so I can understand the fans who were angry and disappointed at the final whistle. However, I think we are improving, especially in terms of our defensive work. The coach told us to keep on trying as we are doing and to work hard, hoping that next time we will also find a goal.
