Ibrahim Sidibe scored at both ends as FC BATE Borisov and Debreceni VSC drew 1-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie.

Debrecen seemed to have secured a 1-0 win in Belarus thanks to Sidibe's away goal midway through the second half, but the substitute striker levelled the score three minutes into added time when he inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.

BATE took charge from the off, Artem Radkov shooting wide inside ten minutes before Vitali Rodionov went close with a header midway through the first period. Dmitri Mozolevski was denied by István Verpecz just before the interval and Marko Simić threatened from a free-kick ten minutes after the restart.

Debrecen, though, took the lead on 67 minutes when Sidibe met Adamo Coulibaly's pass to score past Andrei Gorbunov with his first touch. BATE were unperturbed, however, and duly got their just reward when Sidibe deflected Aleksandr Pavlov's cross beyond his own goalkeeper. BATE go to Nyiregyhaza for the second leg on Tuesday.
