FC Dynamo Kyiv have signed Taye Taiwo on a season-long loan from AC Milan with the option to buy the defender at the end of the campaign.
The 27-year-old made 191 Ligue 1 appearances for Olympique de Marseille before joining Milan in May 2011. A lack of first-team football at San Siro prompted a loan move to Queens Park Rangers FC in January and it is the chance to play regularly again that was key to Taiwo's decision to link up with the Bilo-Syni.
"The Dynamo move is a great chance for me to play 90 minutes every week," he said. "With all due respect to Milan, I don't want to spend my career sitting on the bench. Moving to Kyiv gives me the chance to play in UEFA Champions League and also my friend Ayila Yussuf plays here."
Taiwo is Yuri Semin's sixth summer signing after those of Miguel Veloso, Niko Kranjčar, Raffael, Andriy Bohdanov and Marco Ruben, but Dynamo president Ihor Surkis refused to rule out further arrivals. "Have we finished our transfer activity? Never say never," he said.
Dynamo take on Feyenoord in the third qualifying round, with the second leg in Rotterdam on 7 August.
