Ukrainian double winners FC Shakhtar Donetsk have swelled their attacking ranks by signing Brazilian forward Maicon on a three-year deal from FC Volyn Lutsk.
The 24-year-old, who will officially join Shakhtar on 1 September, played for Fluminense FC, Alagoinhas Atlético Clube and CR Flamengo in his native country before joining Volyn in 2009 where he scored 29 times in 57 league games.
Maicon spent the end of the 2010/11 campaign on loan with FC Steaua Bucureşti, but hit 14 goals on his return to Volyn last season to share the top-scorer's laurels with Shakhtar striker Yevhen Seleznyov. Maicon's signature comes hot on the heels of another attacker, Marko Dević, as Shakhtar seek to increase their firepower ahead of their upcoming European campaign. The Donetsk club qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage by winning the Ukrainian title.
