FC Bayern München have continued their summer strengthening by completing the signing of highly-rated teenager Mitchell Weiser from 1. FC Köln.
The 18-year-old arrives on a three-year deal and will team up with fellow new recruits Claudio Pizarro, Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante Bonfim and Tom Starke. Weiser originally caught the eye with a string of fine performances at the 2011 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where Germany finished runners-up to the Netherlands.
"We are very happy, since with Mitchell Weiser and Emre Can we now have two of the most talented youngsters in Germany in our squad," said Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger.
Weiser, who made his Bundesliga debut in February against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, said: "If you are given the chance to sign for Bayern, you simply have to take it."
