Munich trophy tour drawing in the crowds

Terminal 2 at the city's airport and an inline skating meeting were among the calling points as the UEFA Champions League trophy continued its successful tour of Munich.

The UEFA Champions League trophy and its sister silverware have passed the halfway point of their 11-stop tour of Munich as the build-up to the 19 May final at the Fuβball Arena München continues.

Having spent the last week of April wowing fans in the central Munich square of Karlsplatz and the Olympiapark, where the UEFA Champions Festival will take place from 16–19 May, the symbols of European club football success landed outside Terminal 2 at the city's Airport.

The trophies provided an unexpected treat for domestic and international visitors from 28 April-6 May, with nearly 20,000 people walking through the MAC-Forum each day.

Following an appearance on 7 May at a Blade Night event – an inline skating meet – in the city's Bavariaplatz, where over 5,500 participants were treated to a close-up of the cups at the start line, the trophies travelled south.

The following day they were greeted by hundreds of FC Bayern München fans, who hope their team will lift defeat Chelsea FC in the UEFA Champions League showpiece on home soil, at Mangfallplatz, a short distance from the club's headquarters and training ground.
