Olympique de Marseille's Souleymane Diawara will miss his side's UEFA Champions League quarter-final against FC Bayern München because of a ruptured cruciate ligament.

Diawara was forced off just seven minutes into Marseille's 1-1 draw against OGC Nice on Saturday. Subsequent checks from OM's medical staff revealed a "serious [right] knee strain with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament", meaning the Senegal centre-back is set for a lengthy absence. No further details were given by the club, though Diawara is likely to undergo surgery in the coming days.

Marseille host Bayern at the Stade Vélodrome on Wednesday, with the second leg of their last-eight tie taking place in Munich on Tuesday week.
